Classics moorings
Fowey Harbour Commissioners (FHC) designate a special mooring area for Fowey Classics
boats. This is normally located on pontoons and fore-and-aft mooring buoys close
to Prime Cellars on the wooded east bank of the harbour, north (upstream) of
Penleath Point. These are reserved for entrants. Some bigger boats may be given separate visitor moorings
These moorings are at a special concessionary rate if you book through "Classic" If you require a "Classics" mooring this should be ordered and paid for when submitting your entry form. The entry fee for the event does not include mooring.
Entrants arriving from seaward will usually be directed to these moorings by an FHC Patrol boat (Fowey Harbour Radio VHF Ch. 12)
Mooring stickers will be issued to paid-up entrants’ boats on arrival and these must be be clearly visible or produced to the patrol staff.
We strongly recommend that you check out the Fowey Harbour Commissioners website www.foweyharbour.co.uk for port information. The Polruan National Coastwatch has a very good site with local weather information www.polruan-nci.org.uk/weatherpage.htm. Both clubs have websites. They are RFYC http://www.rfyc-fowey.org.uk and Fowey Gallants:- http://foweygallantssc.co.uk
Any boat on the reserved Classics moorings not displaying a special Classics pennant may be required by the Harbour Patrol to move to a regular Visitors mooring and to pay the appropriate full per night rate.
The special concessionary rates for Classics moorings are determined by FHC and cover a Four night period from 26th July .The mooring charges for this year are shown on the entry form.
Please note that the FHC definition of LOA includes bowsprit and or bumkin which is different to the "classics" definition.
If you are able to please DRESS OVERALL OR PUT UP FLAGS AND BUNTING . This adds greatly to the festive atmosphere of the event, its a great for all the admirers and there is a prize of the Wee Wellie Trophy for the best dressed boat and/or crew..
A commercial water taxi is available in the harbour. Call VHF Ch. 6 or the Duty Driver on mobile 07774 906730.
